hooray! guess what we just found... our FORAGE bow ties in creature comfort's  2011 gifted magazine. grab a cup of coffee,  your credit card and get cozy! once you're done flipping through all 145 pages you won't have any holiday shopping left to do - it's that good. 

letterpress things

this weekend, we spent 9 hours driving to and from chicopee, ma to visit john barrett's letterpress things. it was our 4th trip back and we picked up lots of amazing stuff: teeny-tiny lead type, a small cabinet, composing stone, eyelet press, chase, spacers and piles of vintage paper. the best part of the trip is spending the entire day with john - he's an old school printer with lots of knowledge and plenty of  good stories.

by the yard

we're so excited about BY THE YARD - a super cute pop-up shop curated by halligan smith & lydia trott at part time studios. the show is full handmade fabrics, paper, bunting, garland, ribbon and more! all made by 25 female artists who created all types of "yardage" for you to buy. the opening is friday, the 4th from 6-10. if you can't make it then come to the closing nov 19th from 6-10.

lance dewalt

yesterday, anthology magazine posted a preview of their 5th issue titled "going global". i've been counting down the days to get a peek because the latest issue features a story about one of my very favorite fellas: lance dewalt!

i've known lance for more than 6 years and he's one of the most inspiring people i know. he's crazy talented, super funny, and obviously really cute! when it comes to style, lance is one of the best kept secrets out there. whether it's art directing fashion shows, styling sassy ladies, or designing store interiors this guy always surprises me with his effortless genius. he's one of the best prop stylists i've ever met and his ability to find car loads of vintage treasures always makes me jealous.

playing with shapes is one reason why we fell in love with making our own bow ties. there are so many variations you can make with just the slightest change. during the last year we've created over a dozen patterns but our very first one is still the most popular. our "thistle" silhouette is classic in it's shape and the simplest to tie into the quintessential bow. read more about our favorite patterns at of a kind.

uppercase issue 11

issue 11 of uppercase magazine is out and this month stephen's sharing one of his favorite collections: vintage handyman how-to books. he also put together a basic guide to build a personal wood shop - including a list of must have power tools & hand tools. he also shared the floor plan to his 14' x 14' shop to prove you don't need a lot of space to make it happen.
