when derek found out we were going to see the giant camera, he mentioned the sutro bath ruins were near by and we should visit them too...
built in 1896, the surtro baths were created specifically to bridge economic classes through the use of swimming uniforms, low admission costs and accessibility by rail road. the 3 acre indoor facility became the home to may attractions including a travel museum before being turned into an ice skating rink. in 1966 everything burned to the ground and what's left is the footprint of the pools.
my mom has pictures from iceskating there when she was a kid... it seems pretty impressive

i loved the sutro baths and was always so fascinated with them when i lived there. i loved going there and in my head i would imagine what it was like to be there when it was brand new. could you imagine? so beautiful!
