I have the two most incredible daughters. One has moved across the country with her wonderful husband, their delightful little Olivia and Henry, and their faithful dog. I miss them terribly and recently learned of this fabulous giveaway, which coincidentally came at the same time my little family is buying their very first home oh so many miles away. Owning an Eames chair has been their dream f o r e v e r. I would be over the moon to gift my daughter this great example of iconic design. and it's orange.

Okay, picture this: paint tubes, dozens upon dozens of paper cups, a hole-y couch, tidbits of paper, canvases stacked up in corners, cords strewn about, over crowded book shelves, stacked high midterms, tool boxes, air brushes, paint brushes, card tables, works-in-progress, a scratchy second-hand drafting table, laptops, desktops, pencils, pencils, pencils, paint, paint, paint & one incredibly busy MFA earning, full time job working, solo show prepping, way too busy husband. What not in this picture? A chair! Among all of this chaos my dear, sweet hubby is without a decent chair! I would love to win this for him to create a little calm space in his uber hectic world. Somewhere for him to host a proper studio visit, read a book, or even - gasp - take a break! He works harder & has more gumption than anyone I know. I'd love to be able to give him this gem of a chair to remind him that he's admired & loved. Oh, and don't worry, he won't get paint on it!

I'd love to give this chair to my girlfriend Amanda.

Having just graduated college and moved to Chicago from Ohio (and, until recently, without jobs!), we're off to a modest start in our small apartment. As you can imagine, furniture is high on our priority list but a bit out of reach as we slowly adjust to post-college life.

Amanda studied interior design and she is a great Eames admirer - I think she'd die to have this piece. Wouldn't it make a great housewarming gift? Thank you!

I would love to give this to my wife. She is a very busy mother of our twin baby girls and 4 year old son. This would brighten up her life when things get crazy.

I would gift this to my beloved husband who works his 9 to 5 as a web developer only to come home and continue coding into the night. All of this so our kiddies have the benefit of me at home full time. I don't say thank you enough so maybe this will show him a smidge of our appreciation for what he does...not to mention he would look super handsome writing code from such a good looking chair.
(Because we are a one income family we don't splurge on the pretty things in life but that doesn't mean we don't appreciate them, thanks for the chance).

What a great giveaway! I would give this chair to my mother - she deserves a great modern pop of color to relax in. She just re-designed her living room and this would fit in nicely :)

I would have to give them to my dad in Scotland, he loves Eames and is a big collector of all sorts of furniture, but as far as I know, since i last saw him , he doesn't have any Eames, but they could join the Bertoia , Barcelona, and G Plan chairs he's collected over the years, cheaply from auctions in Edinburgh.

My Pops.

He is an amazingly awesome artist & professor, can rock a ponytail like no other, whistles better than Andrew Bird, & even though he makes terrible jokes, he is my favorite person in the world.

Despite what others thought of me going to school for my BFA in Printmaking, he is the one who has consistently encouraged me over my long journey in college to pursue my dream. With his inspirational advice & artist's wisdom, I will finally get to accomplish my goal in December.

Giving this chair to him as a gift would not only make him salivate because of the Eames' stunning, classic design, but would give me a sweet way to tell my Pops thanks for everything.

What an awesome give away!

Now, while my husband shouted, "You would give it to me, I love orange!" We both agreed we would give it to Liam, our son who starts kindergarten this fall. *gasp!*
How sweet and deserving this "big" guy is to have his own desk and chair. He has such a great creative and bookwormy spirit that I could see this chair carrying him through all his school years and beyond.

Thanks for the chance! Cheers, Linsey

Given the chance I would, without hesitation, give this beauty to my Dad. My dad the graphic designer, craftsman and art lover who from a very young age instilled in me an appreciation for all things creative and rebellious as well as clean lines and good fonts.
He has always encouraged my artful musings and pushed me to take them further. Now that I am a full-time printmaker, he is my biggest fan and a constant source of inspiration. He's had his eye on an eames chair for a long while now and it would be just about the most perfect gift I could ever get him.

Thanks for the opportunity,

Alda

I would give this chair to my dad- he loves this color and just built an office in his home, and this would be the perfect little side chair to add to his new space!

Oh, these chairs are beautiful. I would give them to my sister, who is currently pregnant with her fourth child (all under the age of 5) and she could use a bright, happy chair for her hectic life!

My husband is turning 30 in two weeks and this chair would be the perfect birthday gift for him. He has been on a long search for the last perfect chair to complete our dining table set. He loves the idea of each chair being different and unique. The Eames' have been a big inspiration in his life as an architect. He works hard for our little family and he definitely deserves to have this beautiful orange chair. Thank you for your consideration.

Pick me! Pick me! I would give this chair to my boyfriend in a heartbeat. He is a lover of modern design. He begs me to surprise him with an Eames chair at least once a week, even though he knows there is not a chance in hell that I could afford it. His favorite color is bright red/orange and the chair would match his room perfectly. Also, it is his birthday weekend and hello, what an amazing surprise it would be for him. Also, he is awesome. Also, I want to look at it when I wake up in his room.

I would keep this chair all for myself.

Just kidding!
I'd give it my fantastic fiance. He actually bought this exact chair for himself hoping to use it as his fancy-treat-to-himself desk chair. and unfortunately it just didn't meet the requirements for the office space.
unable to afford to keep the chair for somewhere else in the house and on top of that buy a desk chair, he had to, with a heavy heart, return it.
I know seeing it in the house again would just melt his heart.

thank you so much for the opportunity!

I would gift this chair to my husband, who is just the best. He knows how much I love Charles and Ray Eames and only recently found out (while doing research for our house blog www.homesweetsplitlevel.blogspot.com) that Ray was Charles' wife and not his brother. I thought that was adorable...he's pretty adorable too.

i would give this chair to my new house, Fletch. i spend hours pouring over photos of the chairs, mostly Eames chairs, that i would love to give to my new house. but sadly i have spent all my money buying this new house and have none left over for a perfect housewarming gift for it.

I would give this to my partner, who would absolutely die to have one.

I would give it to my photographer husband, Carl who could rock it in his new studio downtown. He would put it next to his vase of mustaches from you. :)

I would give this chair to my boyfriend. We first fell in love over long dinner dates. Not romantically gazing into each other's eyes over sparkling glasses of wine, but delightfully critiquing the font selection and graphic design of the menus!

He is a lover of modern furniture design, but trends a little conservative when it comes to color. The couch is blue, the walls are blue, the rug is blue. Nothing in the world could be nicer than a bright pop of orange amidst that sea of blues.
