uppercase volume 2

stephen just had the chance to read the new volume of uppercase magazine and we finally got to talk about our favorite parts...

...we loved the feature about lauren smith & derek fagerstrom of the curiosity shoppe. the story about potter, kevin tweed, brought back good memories of kansas city, where stephen and i went to school with him. we also have to mention the simple scissor collection that lisa congdon shared, it's so beautiful! congrats janine! we're already looking forward to issue number three.

how-to block printing for u.o.

urban outfitters asked stephen to do a how-to video for linoleum block printing... check it out here. the project has us thinking about our favorite printmakers like, yee-haw industries, tugboat printshop, little friends of printmaking, lab partners, the small stakes...

eames chair giveaway winner

we've been reading comments from our eames chair giveaway all weekend. there are two posts we can't stop thinking about. the first is from ashley, who wants to give the chair to brad and the second is from brad, who wants to give the chair to ashley. we can't resist making this happen. officially, brad reynolds, we want to give you an eames chair to give to your super cute wife, ashley. congratulations.

"i love you like ray loved charles"

...i've been saying this to stephen since we studied together at cranbrook (where ray kaiser & charles eames met in 1940). i can't imagine what we would be making if we had not been trained under their "form follows function" philosophy. it's not hard to find people who love their work but, for us, it's how they worked together that we admire most! 

since our time at cranbrook, we coveted eames shell chairs... and now, we're lucky enough to have this one. that's why when we were approached with an opportunity to share one with you we said yes!!!

bike update...

we finally took the bikes to a shop and had them taken apart... this is what they look like now. we decided to have the frames sandblasted. if we're going to go this far, we might as well go all the way!
