we're working on some hand drawn patterns for a new silkscreen.

thrifting

we went thrift shopping and found so much great stuff. stephen rescued a 1960's sears telescope (still in the box),  with the most amazing wood tripod. i have a rule when thrifting: the first object i find sets the tone, then all the items i want to get that day have to be related in some way (color, material, theme...). this time, it was the check tablecloth that set the color palette.

there's no place like here

for us, there's no place like our home. a few months ago, tara young (from etsy's video team) came to visit our loft and see what inspires us. now, etsy is sharing a glimpse into our loft, studios and collections with you in their series there's no place like here.

all the books are back off the shelf and in piles all over the place. we've had them organized by color forever and i'm ready for something new, maybe by subject? anyone remember the dewey decimal system?

clementine

it's not enough that she's insanely talented, but jen corace is also as interesting as the characters she draws and just as cute. her recent solo show, titled clementine, at art star in philadelphia is breathtaking. the careful nature of her drawings is balanced by the clear evidence of a hand drawn line. the scale of the pieces in the show are unexpectedly large (22"x30") and full of the details you love about her work: pattern, ribbons, flowers, and unforgettable ladies. it was our first time meeting jen in real life and we have to thank erin and megan (of art star) for making it possible.

new kid on the block

our family of mustaches just got bigger! we have a brand new stache called "the banker". to celebrate, we put together a package of all four styles called "the gentlemen's club".

this is what the mold making process looks like. every mustache starts with a hand carved original that is used to make a silicone mold, then each mustache is cast in plastic by hand.

this was how we started our morning before we set out to see the armory, pulse and scope...

this installation (outside of scope) was our favorite of the day. in general, all three shows had lots of text based works - especially neon signs. there was a lot of low-tech media (i think we saw 10+ slide projectors), and throughout the day we became most fascinated by the table/desk set ups in each of the booths...

stationery

we're getting ready for a shop update and have been making all our favorite goods. we finally made sets of our felt stationery so you can have plenty to share! each box comes with five cards and envelopes in the colors above with hand printed, recycled felt, silhouettes.
