I'll send over my five year old, we can have tea on your fabulous swing and watch her go. (She really could do it!)
I found you on Made By Girl and fell in love with your home.
I will be back.

I have my books covered in both kraft and butcher paper, depending on the room they're in - I used to stamp the spines with a number that corresponded to a database of which title was what, but I've been thinking about drawing the titles on in colored pencil - sort of like your links list! Good luck with whatever solution you go for - I look forward to seeing the results. :)

Can we trade places??....please!! We get color inspirations from vintage interiors, children's book, and even textiles. It's awesome that you get your colors from the globes. I can see the reference, but you done such an amazing job mixing it with other patterns and texture that you've created such an unique space overall. jealous...:)

You could shelve them like the character in "High Fidelity" by the dates you purchased them. Impractical, yes. Category sounds fun.
Before you shelve the books, stack them in a stair/step formation and make sure you buy a toy slinky. Place it on the top stack and watch it go! Lots of fun...at least it was a month or so ago when I tried it. :)

I love the categorize-by-color look, but it's such a pain to find things! I like the category and height within category best!

I organize by subject/genre and definitely prefer it.

Ugghhhh. I spent the summer cataloguing botanical books according to Dewey -- never again. My books at home are only roughly organized and then I flipped them, fore-edges out, spines hidden. I could have my librarian accreditation taken away, but I think it looks pretty.

Aw, I like the color! I like doing it by height too, I drive my sister crazy doing it! (Everytime we come home from the library, I spend a long time organizing the books... and reading them!) :)

height? usefulness then subcategorized by subject (this is what i usually return to)? most impressive reads at eye level/shameful pleasures high and low?
