i love valentine's day

what's not to love about glitter, candy, cards and flowers... valentine's day might have been invented just for me.

i have vivid memories of making valentine's day "mail boxes" all through elementary school. i wanted to make one this year (just for fun), but didn't have time. all along, stephen was making one for me, and it's absolutely amazing. here are the facts: made of oak, music box plays "love me tender", mail slot on top and trap door on the bottom to retrieve valentines. i'm a lucky girl! other highlights of our valentine's day include (but are not limited to): new shoes for shauna and a giant bouquet of balloons for stephen (delivered to work and hugely embarrassing). also for stephen, handmade neck ties and a mug from fieldguided.

field trip

it's all done and ready to go... but before it travels it to it's new home, we wanted to take some "glamour shots". imagine us pulling the truck over (hazards flashing), carrying the sign off into the woods, snaping photos, shoving it back in the truck, and driving off. it was so much fun.

we're building a new marque for a "secret" project...

we've been dying to talk about the new life of our your message here project. we want to keep the location a surprise until it opens, but here's a hint: it's in brooklyn and it's "cute". we'll be asking for your messages again, so start thinking of what you want to say. 

lost river modern

although it's several months away, we are counting down the days until our vacation. we're going to lost river modern in west virginia.  you may have seen this spread about chris brown and sarah johnson's res4, prefab cabin in dwell magazine. (we found out about it from janet and stu of three potato four). lucky for us, they rent it out and it's only a five hour drive from philadelphia.

more plaster hearts

since we sold out of the last batch so fast, we made more plaster hearts. look for them in the shop on monday evening.

stephen made a time lapse video demonstrating the casting process but, i think our two dogs steal the show.

the transition

we're a bit obsessive with everything, even shoes. two years ago, when stephen started wearing nike dunks... it took only weeks before it was "all dunks - all the time" (before that, he was a vans fella). after a long search for a "transitional" shoe, he found it! meet generic surplus, made by generic man. there are enough styles and colors for a fully functional "all generic - all the time" wardrobe. hooray. get your own here, and mark your calendar for june, when generic surplus will be the featured pop-up shop at space 15 twenty in l.a. (stephen's already planning a trip).

ryan town

we really, really like the work of robert ryan, and we really, really wish we could visit his new shop/studio "ryantown" (located in london). although we dream of owning a large silkscreen print, we have been collecting a few smaller items like tiles and a small laser cut peice, which we purchased via his etsy shop, misterrob. i only wish we could get a hold of some of that tape!

this year...

... we're going to keep at least one of these alive! we should start by finding larger containers so they have room to grow.
